Women Leading the Way: Reflections from the Specialty & Agrochemicals Show 2025

August 12, 20250

Attending the Specialty & Agrochemicals Show in Savannah, Georgia this year was more than just a chance to learn about the latest innovations in the industry—it became a moment of reflection, connection, and celebration of progress, especially for women working across the chemical and logistics sectors.

One of the most impactful parts of the experience came not from the booths or keynote speakers (though they were excellent), but from the conversations I had with women older than myself—seasoned professionals who have lived through decades of change in a historically male-dominated field. Dialoguing with them was both grounding and energizing. They spoke candidly about what things used to be like—how, not so long ago, being a woman at these events often meant fighting to be taken seriously, enduring condescending remarks, or being the only woman in the room.

But this year felt different. You could see and feel the shift. More women are not only attending the show but leading at every level—from supply chain executives to chemical engineers, logistics directors, and regulatory specialists. Representation is no longer an aspiration; it’s becoming reality.

Together, we talked about how the narrative around women in complex, high-stakes roles—like supply chain management—has evolved. Once seen as a male stronghold, these positions now highlight the strengths women have long brought to the table: adaptability, strategic thinking, and unmatched organizational skills. In an industry where delays cost millions and every link in the chain matters, women are showing up and excelling.

The older women I spoke with noted how objectification has become far less present at events like these. There’s a stronger sense of professionalism, mutual respect, and an understanding that competence—not appearance—is the currency that counts. That cultural shift didn’t happen overnight, and it certainly didn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of women pushing forward, proving themselves again and again, and supporting each other through the process.

It was inspiring to listen and learn from those who paved the way, and to realize that I—and many others—are now part of the next wave, continuing to push the industry toward greater equity, inclusion, and excellence.

As we look ahead, the future for women in chemicals, logistics, and agro-industries looks promising—not just because we are being included, but because we are leading. And not just changing the narrative, but writing a new one entirely.
